Lot Description

Gold and ivory mourning pendant Probably England, dated 1776

Of oval form, painted with female mourner holding handkerchief initialed, "MPA," and leaning on plinth topped with skull and crossbones and hung with shields bearing the initials, "IA" "PA" and "IA," respectively, above inscription, "DIS/ MANIEVS," further inscribed along top edge, "THE REVD IAMES ALLETT OB JULY 15 1776 AET 58," seemingly unmarked.
