Lot Description

Two gold, enamel and ivory mourning rings Probably England, dated 1772 and 1797

Both of marquise form, the first, painted with covered urn beneath flying angel holding cherub, the white enamel surround inscribed, "SAML BROMLY. ROSE. OB: 23 OCT: 1772. AE: 6 YS"; the second, with obelisk raised on plinth beneath weeping willow tree, the black enamel surround inscribed, "JOHN WOODRUFF OB: 2. JULY. 1797. AET 59," both seemingly unmarked.
