Lot Description

Three needlework "House" samplers Scotland or England, 1830s

The first, inscribed,"Frances Bell wrought this sampler in the year of our Lord 1831, Aged 11 years"; the second, inscribed, "Margaret Flambe's Sampler Finished in the 8th year of her age 1835"; and the third, "Marion Glen Ross Bank Sewed With Miss Dyker in Miss Colquhoun of Luss's School Aged 10 May the 28 1830," mounted in a mahogany fire screen, all worked with silk and wool threads on a wool ground.

15 7/8 in. x 15 3/8 in.; 20 3/4 in. x 16 1/2 in.; and 28 in. x 24 in.
