Lot Description

Copper and brass money box made for Ebenezer Clough (1767-1848) of Boston, Massachusetts Made by Coppersmith Nathan Alley, Boston, MA, circa 1820

Ledger sheet hand-written by Ebenezer Clough affixed to underside of lid with detailed accounting of $415 deposited in box in 1820. The lengthy inscription begins "Boston Jan. 1st 1820. This day I got Mr. Nathn Alley the Coppersmith to make me this trunk give him $0.25 for it...Very good doings for this year May I do as well in the next."
