Lot Description

Three small painted boxes 19th century

Including a miniature painted and decorated tool box, the underside of lid inscribed in graphite, "Oliver Whitzell," the interior fitted with till above drawers, accompanied by note, "Belonged to Mary Ann Yates, Griggsville, Il. Oliver Whitzell was uncle"; together with a small painted box, a small green-painted box decorated with yellow and orange flowerhead, the date "1841" and the initials "BAS," and a small brown painted box incised "JJD" with drawing of horses to interior.
