Lot Description

Two gold and ivory mourning pins/pendants England or America, dated 1795 and 1855

The first, of oval form, painted with woman praying beside covered urn on plinth inscribed, "Departed/ In...," a second plinth inscribed, "W. A. M./ Ob June/ 1795/ AE 2 Mo," the reverse set with hair, once fitted as a pin, now with loop attachment; the second, an oval gold, ivory and hairwork mourning pin depicting swagged obelisk dated, "1855," the below plinth inscribed, "my/ Mother," the reverse fitted with horizontal pin; both seemingly unmarked.
