Lot Description

Madeleine Albright's Burlwood Standing Jewelry Box

In 2009, Secretary Albright published Read My Pins: Stories from a Diplomat’s Jewel Box, a book rich with photographs of her pins and text explaining the role that her jewelry played in her diplomacy. More than 200 of her pins went on to be exhibited in museums and most of the libraries dedicated to former presidents, Democrats and Republicans, going back to FDR. Secretary Albright arranged for the donation of these pins for public display at the National Museum of American Diplomacy at the U.S. Department of State in Washington D.C. Freeman’s | Hindman is proud to make available for auction Secretary Albright’s actual jewelry box from her home that she used to hold her "diplomatic arsenal" and other cherished pins, necklaces, and bracelets collected throughout her life.
