Phinney, Elihu, Jr. From 1833-1840 the Supervisor of the Town of Ostego, New York - in which the village of Cooperstown is located. Based on local lore, Abner Doublday played an early version of baseball on "Phinney's Farm," now the site of "Doubleday Field."
Starkweather, George A., 1794-1879, U.S. representative, practiced law in Cooperstown.
