Lot Description

A Louis XVI style gilt bronze-mounted white marble clock second quarter 19th century

Surmounted by a gilt eagle, the clockface suspended between two putti holding garlands aloft on voluted marble columns with gilt bronze hermes in the form of veiled vestals banked with pots of sunflowers, and applied with garlands, the whole on a shaped marble base applied with a frieze and rosettes, with a "sun in splendour" pendulum.

H: 23 1/2, W: 16, D: 4 in.
