Lot Description

A Russian Icon of the Coronation of the Mother of God Possibly Ukrainian or Polish, mid 19th century

Depicting the Mother of God, crowned by God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit depicted as a dove, surrounded by cherubim and seraphim, with a slavonic inscription in Vyaz' reading: "Sacred Coronation of the Holy Mother of God." The back with several inscriptions, the first, partially legible dated "16 September 1844" and beneath, "God's blessings to [our] son Vasilii, in the year 1861."
