Lot Description

A fine Napoleonic prisoner-of-war built boxwood model of the 74-gun ship-of-the-line L'Invincible early 19th century

The three-masted ship with standing and running rigging, with carved Classical figurehead, bearing all elements of ships of this period, including pierced gunports and turned brass cannons, beakhead, bulwarks, deck gear and fittings, fife rails, ladders, stern lanterns, hatches, stairway, balustrades, windowed galleries, and other highly decorative details; sold together with a custom modern glass case.
