Lot Description
A Russian silver-mounted palisander mirror with the cypher of Grand Duke Dmitri Pavlovich the Stroganov School, Moscow, 1908-1918
In the Russian "Stil' modern", the silver banded palisander doors with a silver bolt opening to reveal two interior panels modeled and chased with art nouveau motifs, and the lyrics to the folk song "Tell me, tell me, Sparrow," the crestrail with a stylized Kremlin skyline against a gouache sunset, centering a cartouche in the form of a wax seal engraved with the cypher of Grand Duke Dmitri Pavlovich of Russia (1891-1941) set between roiling stylized clouds, the back with shaped strut.
