1 Piece. Document Signed - American president. Lincoln, Abraham. Washington, June 11, 1862. 1 p., folio on vellum; light to moderate creasing along old folds. Military commission, appointing William E. Prince Major in the First Regiment of Infantry. Countersigned by Edwin M. Stanton, Secretary of War. Lincoln's signature clear but starting to lighten, light to moderate horizontal crease affecting the upper portion of the "A" and "h" in "Abraham" and the first and last "L" in "Lincoln," manuscript contents starting to fade. Paper seal, slightly later manuscript at upper right.
