Lane), expressing his sorrow at the passing of his nephew Eskridge [James B. Long's brother], closing , "give my love to Harriet & Mrs. Lane & affectionate regards to Taylor Lane. Alas poor Ekridge..." Composed 25 days after assuming the presidency of the United States. * Lot also includes secretarial signed Buchanan presidential land patent, May 15, 1860.
