Lot Description

Napoleon III gilt bronze mounted and painted amaranth side cabinet Mathieu Béfort, dit Béfort Jeune (French, 1813 - 1880), circa 1870

Of breakfront form surmounted by conforming bleu Turquin marble top above a frieze mounted with classical motifs of goats and rinceaux; the cabinet with central door decorated en grisaille with putti enclosing a shelved interior, flanked by fluted integral corner columns and mounted to sides with lyres, the whole raised on toupie feet; marked "BJ" to reverse of one mount.

H: 38 1/2, W: 33, D: 19 in.
