Lot Description
Qajar firman Mozaffar Al-Din Shah Qajar, circa 1900 A.D.
Persian manuscript on paper, six lines of black nastaliq beneath illumination in gold and colors and bearing additional inscriptions including one in the shah's own hand stating "Since Jalal al-Dovleh does a good service, we (I) bestowed upon him a studded epaulette. Dated 1900 AD.", another stating "The logo of King Mozaffar al-Din Shah Office"; the decree ordering the bestowal of a diamond studded epaulette upon Mohammad Reza Merza, Jalal al-Dovleh, by Mozaffar al-Din Shah Qajar, the fifth Qajar king of Iran (1896-1907 A.D.) upon the recommendation of Prime Minister Amin al-Soltan who wished to recognize Merza, a commander of 10,000 men, for his loyal service; the reverse with printed mark.
