Large Ottoman metal thread embroidered silk panel Turkey, likely reign of Sultan Mehmed V (r.1909-18)
Rectangular, the red silk ground embroidered with gilt and silver threads with bands of calligraphy including qu'ranic inscriptions and an arabesque, with further roundels and calligraphic panels on green and yellow silk grounds, the lowest panel embroidered Sultan Mohammad Rashad Khan the 5th, son of Sultan Abd al-Majid Khan the 1st, son of Sultan Mahmood Khan the 2nd.
