Lot Description

French Empire style gilt and patinated bronze mantle clock late 19th century, the movement by Gillion, Paris

Circular dial with Roman hours, cast in the form of a shield resting beside an Athenian soldier holding a scroll inscribed Marathon, above stepped plinth suspending a foliate festoon and rectangular base raised on scroll feet, the movement marked Gillion 1832 and Medaille d'or Pons 1897.
