Comprising twelve engraved gores and two polar calottes, the terrestrial globe bearing the imprint: Malby's/ Terrestrial Globe,/ Compiled from the latest/ & most authentic sources/ including all the recent/ Geographical Discoveries./ Manufactured and Published under the superintendence of the/ society for the diffusion of useful knowledge/ by thos. malby & son/ map and globe sellers to the admiralty/ Jan. 1, 1850, engraved by Charles Malby; the celestial globe bearing the imprint: Malby's/ celestial globe,/ Exhibiting the whole of the/ stars/ Contained in the catalogues of Piazzi, Bradley, Hevelius, Mayer, La Caille, and Johnson/ the Double Stars from Sir W. Herschel & Struve/ reduced to the year/ 1850/ By Jno. Addison/ manufactured and published under the superintendence of the society for the diffusion of useful knowledge/ By Malby & Co./ Jan. 1 1848/ Houghton Street Newcastle Street Strand, above a retailer's label reading: T.W. Saunders 6 Charing Cross London, with brass meridian ring and hour dial, paper horizon ring, raised on turned support and outswept tapering legs joined by turned stretcher centered by circular compass terminating in brass casters.
