Lot Description

French cuirassier officer's helmet and sabre circa 1815

Model 1845, the gilt copper helmet surmounted by ornate crest issuing a horse hair tuft to the front and comb to the rear, the body with faux leopard horsehair band and mounted with further socket issuing a navy and red plume and rosette form mounts supporting the chin scales; the heavy cavalry sabre with straight bi-fullered blade engraved to spine "Mf ture Imp ale du Klingenthal Octobre 1810" and marked with two poinçons, the handle with three scrolling side bars, one with additional markings, and wire bound leather grip, with steel scabbard.
