Lot Description

George Jones majolica sardine dish and stand second half 19th century

Rectangular form, the cover molded with three overlapping sardines on a bed of seaweed, the dish with acanthus leaves on a turquoise ground, raised on conforming stand with mottled tortoiseshell reserve, the dish impressed with crescent moon maker's mark, signed 1831 b to unglazed thumbprint, the box also signed.
