Finely painted to show Chinese figures in embroidered robes and mandarin hats, one in fur jacket, enjoying leisurely activities in a landscape, the interior with a spray of peonies beneath a gilt stylized border to the rim, the underside with retailer's label "Denys Cowell, 60 Middle Street, Brighton", raised on an English sterling silver bowl stand with London hallmarks for 1759-60.
