Chinese export gilt lacquer and pewter tea chest circa 1840
Finely gilt with panels depicting a military procession and scenes from Chinese life all within a border of cash coins joined by bamboo and prunus flowers, the interior with bi-partite canister engraved to the top with the eight immortals.
