Lot Description

A Sino-Tibetan gilt and patinated bronze Buddha qing dynasty

The well-casted buddha sits over a double-lotus base in vajra-paryanka-asana position with hands in vitarka mudra, draped over the left shoulder a simple robe decorated by intricately carved leaf bands to ends; face finely formed to show a serene expression flanked by long pendulous ears; the domed ushnisha covered with sharp curls and a gilt jewel to top; base sealed and carved with a visvavajra.
