Lot Description
A Fine George III silver centerpiece john bridge for rundell, bridge, and rundell, london, 1809-10
The stem formed as a palm tree surrounded by Bacchus and two maenads in motion, each figure modelled in classical garb, Bacchus with a lion pelt over his shoulder and each maenad holding the ends of a ribbon, atop the palm fronds sits a removable woven basket with openworked berry and vine rim, the whole supported on an incurved triangular base with three intricately-worked foliage and shell scrolling feet, the stippled ground of the base with Bacchanalian mask and ewer beneath large chased leaves, the base engraved on two sides with coat-of-arms, the third side stamped "Rundell Bridge et Rundell Aurifices Regis Londini".
