Lot Description

Suite of three sterling silver repoussé covered tureens from Governor and Mrs. John C. Brown, Pulaski & Nashville, Tennessee tiffany and co., new york, ny, 1873-1891

Comprising a pair of circular, covered vegetable dishes and an oblong covered tureen, the pair with all-over repoussé floral and foliate decoration, with twin scroll and shell handles terminating in acanthus leaves to the sides, and a leaf-wrapped and reeded loop handle to the lid, raised on conforming, spreading foot; the oblong tureen of related design with leaf-decorated foot, all with inscription to underside: "Mr. and Mrs. John C. Brown 1864 February 23d 1889."
