4to, orig 1/4 sheep & bds; rubbed. 176 numbered pages. Possibly in Samuel Stanhope Smith's hand, but not impossibly in a student's hand. Written in the first person, later incorporated into Smith's lectures on moral and political philosphy published in 1812.

Provenance: family of Daniel Clymer, with the Princeton Tuition & Board receipt of 1806 of Edward Tilghman Clymer & the initials "W.H.C." (likely William Heister Clymer] at head of 1st page.
Samuel Stanhope Smith, 1750-1819, professor of moral philosophy & president of Princeton University.
