1st ed, 1st issue of vol 1; 2nd issue of vol 2. 12mo, orig uniform gilt-pictorial brown cloth, gilt-lettered & pictorial spine, untrimmed edges; corners bumped, spine ends frayed, head & foot of front joint of vol 2 starting to separate & rub away, minor staining & scuffing to vol 2 covers. With fold map & 6 plates. Light scattered foxing in vol 1, fold map in excellent state of preservation, moderate foxing to vol 2 title & frontis, other scattered light foxing, dampstain tide line at head of vol 2 front matter receding through half of vol, some foxing to blanks in vol 2. With Pettes Memorial Library late 19th-century labels on front pastedowns, long-married set. Custom cloth box.
