Lot Description

Pair of Royal Vienna hand-painted, gilt-decorated, 'jeweled' enamel cobalt ground porcelain urns 19th century

Twin-handled baluster form, one side painted with oval medallions of female goddesses amongst the clouds with putti, one depicting Hebe above Jupiter's eagle, the other with Roman armor, both signed K. Weh, the obverse painted with roundel vignettes of musical putti, against a rich cobalt ground with raised gilt scrolls and white dots, supported on socle and square plinth, later mounted as lamps, the underside marked with blue underglaze beehive mark, overglaze script mark Austria, signed "Die Luft".
