Lot Description

A Louis XV Louis XVI Transitional gilt bronze cartel clock circa 1770, the dial and movement signed for charles-nicolas du tertre, paris

The circular porcelain dial with Roman hours and Arabic minutes signed "CH LES DU TERTRE A PARIS", enclosed within domed glass door, the vasiform case with twin caryatid and acanthus plume mounts to shoulder above an acanthus and oak leaf and acorn base, the case surmounted by a twin-handled urn with vegetable form finial, the urn issuing a laurel garland, the brass silk-hung suspension movement engraved "Ch'les Dutertre Paris".
