Giovita Lombardi (Italian, 1837-1876) chien maltais, 19th century
Bronze, mid-brown patina with gilt and red highlights to coat, modelled as a Maltese dog at play, on felted wood base with brass plaque inscribed "Chien Maltais Par G. Lombardi Exp on des Beaux Arts (Vienne)", the underside with stenciled paper label for retailer? "E. Levieil 18 Rue Lafayette Paris", the bronze apparently unmarked.
