The case and bracket with extensive contra partie inlay of colored tortoiseshell and mother-of-pearl, the cavetto-molded hood surmounted by an allegory to Exploration, conceals a single bell, atop shaped case with foliate and acanthus mounts, the glazed door with pierced eagle and rocaille cast cartouche, the circular dial with Roman numeral painted porcelain hours and Arabic minutes, the face signed "Delacroix Her Duroy A Versaille," the case with dolphin mask kness and scroll-cast feet, supported on a cavetto-form bracket with twin ram's head and acanthus chutes, the brass countwheel engraved with Arabic numerals, the backplate engraved "Dela Croix a versaille."
