Lot Description

Pair of large Sevres style porcelain hand-painted cobalt ground "Napoleonic" covered vases circa 1860

The bodies well-painted to show cavalry scenes from the Napoleonic wars, the necks with large crowned initial "N" within laurel wreaths flanked by eagles, the rim painted in gilt with the names of Napoleonic battles, Eylau, Iena, etc., the socles painted with large gilt eagles, raised on rectangular bronze bases on claw feet.
