Lot Description
FAIRMAN R. DICK (AMERICAN, 1886-1976) VIEWS OF THE PACIFIC COAST
1909. Album containing approximately 175 photographs created for employees of Lee, Higginson & Co. documenting a trip to the American Pacific coast.
Fairman R. Dick was a successful investment counselor and an expert in railroad regulations. Born in Philadelphia, he rose to prominence while working with a number of investment firms (including Lee, Higginson & Co.) on Wall Street before organizing his own firm in 1915. This album documents the trip west for several members of Lee, Higginson & Co. and includes many photographs documenting railroad travel at the turn of the century, as well as documentation of dams, falls, pumping stations and mines in the Pacific Northwest region.
