Lot Description

Fine Irish Regency silver teapot and open sugar william nowlan, dublin, 1817-18

The repoussé and chased teapot and open sugar or wastebowl of squat form with engraved scale-work design surrounded by floral blossoms and C-scrolls and raised on shell-capped scroll feet, the teapot with phoenix-shaped spout and bearded mask below, the sugar with twin maiden-form handles. Engraved with the Fenwick family crest of a phoenix in flames murally gorged above the motto "Resurgam" (I shall rise again).

H: 6 1/4, W: 10 1/2 in. (teapot). Total weight: 48 oz.
