Bridget, Saint [of Sweden]. Das Puch Der Himlischen Offenbarung [Revelations]. (Nuremberg: Anton Koberger for Florian Waldauf, 12 July), [1502]. 1st complete ed. in High German. Folio, later calf; 11 pages of woodcuts incl. the arms of Maximilion I, the arms of Waldauf; the Crucifixion, the entry in Jerusalem, Saint Bridget & other in-text illus. The two armorial woodcut arms are said to be by Albrecht Durer, the rest assigned to his workshop and probably by 'Birgitten-Meister'. Hand-colored by an early hand. Woodcut on verso of z2 affected by worm. Rubricated. 380 (of 382 leaves). 53 lines & headline. 11 1/8 x 8 mm - sheet size. Library inkstamps to leaf [*]2, ink library stamp to [*]iii recto, to margin (not affecting woodcut), occasional signs of worm. Discolored. Lacking leaf [i]1 (title page with woodcut port) & final blank. Some heads shaved close. Rear matter affected by worm.

Saint Bridget (1303-1373); Mystic and Saint. This edition was printed by Koberger at the request of of Florian Waldauf Von Waldenstein, secretary to Emperor Maximilian I. The two woodcut arms of Waldauf and Maximilian are new to this edition.
