[Pagninus Version of the Bible.] Biblia. Habes in Hoc Libro Prudents Lector Utriusque Instrumenti Novam Translationem. Lyon: Antonius du Ry, 1528 [Colophon: 29, January, 1527]. Translated by Sanctes Pagninus. 1st ptg of this important translation. Thick 4to, old calf, red morocco spine label; front bd detached, extremities rubbed and scuffed. Title in red and black within a woodcut border, decorated initials. Some with later crudely applied color. Ink ownership stamps on verso of title page, impressed mark Q5 - other stamped ownership labels "Property of verplanck Colviz.". Some dampstaining to lower gutter, mostly at front matter up until M8, dampstain at head of xx6-end. Pencil underlining and some marginal pen annotations. 250-170mm - sheet size.
The earliest Latin version of the Bible, made from the original Hebrew and Greek.
