Lot Description
Two English black basalt stirrup cups 18th century, in the manner of wedgwood and bentley
The first in the form of a hare's head, the circular rim inscribed "Success to bowl away & the merry, Harriers of Newton", the interior glazed with evidence of reconstruction, apparently unmarked; together with a fox head stirrup cup, glazed interior. Together with an English speckle glazed creamware stag-head stirrup cup, flattened antlers, brown-speckled all over and a Sancai style ox-head stirrup cup. (4).
