Lot Description

French gilt bronze and 'jeweled' Sevres style porcelain inset clock garniture japy freres, 19th century

The circular porcelain dial with Roman numerals, painted to show songbirds in flight, the movement with Japy freres medaille d'honneur cachet, the gilt bronze case well cast in the Louis XVI style to show acanthus, masks and putti, with inset porcelain plaques depicting eighteenth-century figures or enameled 'jewels' on a blue ground, the garniture urns similarly decorated and with pull-off covers reversible to a candle-nozzle, each piece on original velvet-lined wooden base.
