Fine Continental carved ivory plaque 18th/19th century, probably south german, in the manner of antonio leoni
The single section intricately carved to show a battle scene, possibly the capture of Francis I during the Battle of Pavia, with a central mounted figure leading the charge, as his soldiers carry the spoils of war, and another man in full armor is tied with ropes and his helmet removed, in conforming ebonised frame.
