Lot Description
Fine French Empire gilt bronze mantle clock early 19th century, the dial signed fois gresson a paris
The circular white enameled dial with Roman hour markers and gilt hands, the back of the movement with scratched number 19155, within a rectangular case applied with a Bacchic mask and vines, surmounted by a ewer, flanked on one side by a well cast figure of Dionysus wearing a pelt and holding a grape vine, on the other by a twin handled tazza mounted on a pedestal applied with trophies, all above a rectangular base with applied Bacchic motifs, a ewer, grapes, animal skins and wreaths, raised on circular leaf-tip cast feet.
