French terrestrial library globe in oak stand emile bertoux, paris, circa 1880

Twelve hand-colored printed paper gores and two polar calottes, inset keys denoting European possessions in the Americas, Asia, and Africa, the passage of famous voyages (Cook, Carterel, Byron etc.) denoted, the title cartouche reading " Globe terrestre d'apres les decouvertes le plus recentes, publie par E.le Bertaux, Rue Serpente, 25. Paris", within brass meridien circle set into a circular stand raised on three fluted legs terminating in castors and united by a stretcher incorporating a compass.
