Lot Description

Collection of Continental snuff, bon-bon, and trinket boxes 19th century, mostly French

Comprising seven of circular form, with reverse glass printed lids depicting ladies in costume opening to a paper interior (one to a tortoiseshell interior); one similar but in the shape of a book; a larger example of similar form, the glass lid worked to show a youth in a landscape with a silk backing; a toleware cigarette tin painted to show a maiden; together with a small oval portrait miniature depicting Marie Antoinette; a painted lacquered circular box lid panel; and a wallpaper covered wooden jewellery box.
