Bolt-action rifle fed by detachable single stack magazines. Item appears to be a customized and refinished version of the Springfield Model 1922M1 practice rifle. Barrel and receiver are drilled and tapped for scope mounting blocks, standard on the Model 1922M1. Item features a single firing pin, no cocking knob, and the full length bolt throw typical of the Model 1922M1. Receiver marks read U.S./SPRINGFIELD with the model mark removed via stippling. Barrel mark reads S A/{Ordnance Bomb}/7-31, indicating it was made by Springfield Armory in July, 1931, and the bolt is struck NS for Nickel Steel. Sights consist of a Lyman rear aperture and front blade. Stock embellished with the addition of silver oak leaves, acorn to forend, and unsigned escutcheons on the wrist and toe.
