Lot Description

[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. A group of 6 images featuring interesting portraiture.


Sixth plate daguerreotype portrait of a pair of young girls seated together in an upholstered chair, each holding a doll close to her chest. Light hand-tinting is visible to the girl's dress on the viewer's left and the girl's necklace on the viewer's right. (Some tarnishing and scratching to edges, some spotting.) Housed in a leatherette case. -- Sixth plate ambrotype portrait of a young couple, the woman wearing a boldly striped dress. (Haloing, light spotting; unsealed.) Housed in a Rare Union case, Masonic Emblems [Berg 1-870] (closure loose, misalignment, soiling, some chipping/nicking). -- And 4 other images including a sixth plate daguerreotype of an old man with a cane housed in a leatherette case, a sixth plate ambrotype of a young girl by R. P. Crapo, Lockport, NY housed in a figural Union case, and 2 sixth plate tintypes (one featuring two women, the other featuring an older man) housed together in a figural Union case with severe misalignment/closure issues. -- Together, 6 images housed in 5 cases.
