Silver. -- Unmounted albumen photograph after tintype/ambrotype of young soldier. -- Mustached man in civilian dress, inscribed on verso "W.H.? Cochran (?), Capt. Asst...." (difficult to discern). Nashua, NH: Charles Lindsey. -- Thomas Waterbury, 64th US Colored Troops. Vicksburg, MS: Joslyn & Smith. Signed/identified in lower margin and initialed on verso. -- Studio view of a uniformed soldier and his wife. St. Louis, MO: W.L. Troxell (rounded corners). -- Standing view of a soldier, modern identification on verso, "W.D. Durant, Ill. Vol. Inf." Uncredited.
[With:] 3 CDVs of European soldiers, possibly all from Germany. -- 2 souvenir cards from the Boer War. Each with painted feathers affixed to the front cover, one inscribed, "A Souvenir from the Anglo-Boer War," the other inscribed "Absence makes the Heart grow fonder." Each contains a 3 3/4 x 5 in. photograph taken during the war, including a view of artillery.
Together, 26 photographs. Condition generally good, with toning, occasional soiling, edge and corner wear.
