Lot Description
[CIVIL WAR]. [BRADY, Mathew, (1822-1896), photographer]. Stereoview of General George Armstrong Custer. Hartford, CT: Taylor & Huntington, ca 1880s.
Gen. G.A. Custer. Photograph taken in 1864. Stereoview on cardstock mount showing George Armstrong Custer as major general. Recto with series title, "The War for the Union," and verso with Taylor & Huntington's imprint and descriptive information (minimal wear including minor imperfection on right side, above Custer's hat).
Despite date recorded on mount, the portrait was originally captured on 4 January 1865 by Mathew Brady & Co. and subsequently published by Taylor & Huntington ca 1880s using the multiple lens negative [K-59V].
