Lot Description

[ANTI-VIETNAM WAR]. JOHNS, Jasper, artist. Moratorium. 1969.

22 1/2 x 28 3/4 in. lithograph. American flag in orange and green camouflage with black stars and stripes, with a singular white bullet hole near the center of the flag, a subtle representation of Jasper Johns' anti-Vietnam War sentiments. The word "Moratorium" is printed in bold text along the lower margin. Copyrighted in print at lower right by Jasper Johns (light creasing throughout, some short tears to edges). From the edition published for the exhibition Art for the Moratorium, 11 - 13 December 1969, Leo Castelli Gallery, New York.

A vintage poster produced in protest of American involvement in Vietnam in 1969.
