FIRST EDITION OF KESEY'S FIRST NOVEL, FIRST PRINTING with "Published in 1962 by The Viking Press, Inc." on the copyright page with no subsequent printings, FIRST ISSUE with "that fool Red Cross woman" on p.9 and "Red Cross woman named Gwen-doe-lin, with the blond hair the patients are always arguing about" on p.86. IN THE FIRST-STATE DUST JACKET with Kerouac's 5-word blurb. Milos Forman's 1975 film adaptation starring Jack Nicholson became the first film in 41 years to sweep the major categories of Best Picture, Director, Actor, Actress, and Screenplay at the Academy Awards.
