Arisaka Type 44 Cavalry Carbine
World War II
6.5x50mm. 19.2" barrel length. SN: 36472. Blued metal finish with polished bolt and straw colored trigger set in a full length wood semi-pistol grip stock with spliced toe. Bolt action repeating rifle fed by an internal box magazine using a cock on close action and mounting an underfolding spike bayonet. Receiver shows the standard kanji markings for Type 44 but the {Imperial Chrysanthemum} has been ground off. Left receiver is struck with the stacked cannonball {Koshikawa Arsenal} marking beside the serial number with the S proof on the barrel and Circle Triangle proofs on the left barrel and the top of the receiver. Serial numbers match on the bolt, cocking knob, magazine floorplate, and the receiver, but the firing pin is not numbered and the bayonet lug does not match. First variation stock with two holes for each half of the cleaning rod, which is not present.
This lot is located in Cincinnati.
